Welcome to Iconic Photography. My name is Nicholas Brown and I am a Canberra wedding photographer. On 15 November, 2014, I had the great pleasure to photograph the wedding of Lisa and Gareth at Black Mountain Lookout, Canberra.
I am not the superstitious type, but I have heard that it’s good luck if it rains on your wedding day. Given how fun Lisa and Gareth’s wedding day was, I am starting to believe this superstition.
I met Lisa at her house where she was getting ready in the morning with her sisters and father. It was so relaxed. There was OJ and champagne, roasted vegetables and limoncello. Everything the body needs for a big day. Following the preparation photos at the house, I met Gareth at the lookout where he was mingling with the guests and eagerly awaiting Lisa’s arrival.
It was a wonderful ceremony and I was so impressed that Lisa and Gareth knew their vows by heart. By heart and from the heart. Very special.
Following the ceremony, the bridal party and I made our way to Lennox Gardens to take some photos. Lennox Gardens is such a lovely location for Canberra wedding photos; it has so many good backdrops. It is on Lake Burley Griffin and importantly for Lisa and Gareth, the foliage of the trees meant they could stay pretty dry. We spent about one hour taking photos in the gardens before making our way to the Federal Golf Club for the reception.
When I arrived at the golf club, I was gob smacked by their wedding cake. In fact, it wasn’t a cake, it was a croquembouche which was handmade by Lisa’s family in a Canberra hotel room the day before the wedding. How impressive!
Lisa and Gareth’s wedding was just how a wedding should be; relaxed, fun, with great friends and family, a phenomenal dessert and the NUT BUSH!
