Krystal’s Quinceañera {Gungahlin Lakes}

Photos: Nicholas Brown (Canberra Event Photographer)

Location: Gungahlin Lakes, ACT

On the 7th of December I had the privilege of photographing Krystal’s Quinceañera; a traditional Latin American coming-of-age ceremony for a 15 year old girl. I must admit, prior to being asked to photography the special occasion, I had not heard of a Quinceañera before. Having seen one, I wish I had been born a Latin girl. It was a magnificent party and Krystal’s parents went to an incredible effort to make it a memorable night for their daughter.

It is quite a formal occasion. Krystal was presented to the guests, sat up the front and received meaningful gifts from her family and danced with her father. This was a very touching moment. Don’t get me wrong though, the whole night wasn’t formal. Once the formalities were over, Krystal and her cousins put on a dance for her guests and even Krystal’s dad showed off some dance moves. On top of this, their were lollies, cake and even a singing group from the local church.

I feel very lucky to have been a part of such a wonderful ceremony. This is one of the many things I love about photography; it introduces me to such a broad range of people and experiences.

If you would to find out more about booking me to photograph your family occasion, please have a look at my family page and contact me if you would like any further information. I hope you like the photos.

Thanks for visiting Iconic Photography. My name is Nicholas Brown and I am a Canberra wedding and family photographer. I am also a husband, a father and a bit of a nerd. What I love about wedding and family photography is getting to know people, listening to their stories and then helping them tell their story. Oh … and I also love coffee. So, if you’d like to sit down over a cup and tell me your story, I would love to hear it and help you share it.
